The New Zealand Professional MTB Association provides representation for the professional: guiding, instructing and bike park sectors of the mountain bike industry within New Zealand.

The purpose of the group is to enable the NZ mountain bike industry to be a recognised, high quality, safe, sustainable, and well connected sector.

The group will achieve this purpose by:

  • Being the centre of information sharing within the mountain bike industry; key topics include safety, qualifications, current best practice and the regulatory environment.
  • Being the point of contact between the industry and external stakeholders and influencers.
  • Representing the industry view to external stakeholders and influencers.

Greg started Heli Bike Queenstown (formally known as Fat Tyre Adventures) in 2001 when Greg could no longer contain his passion for mountain biking and took a leap to start his own guiding business. He has been working with Skills Active over the past years to create the NZ MTB Guiding Qualifications and Assessing MTB Guides around the country.

Ashley Peters- Instruction Representative
Based in Wellington, Ashley been involved in mountain biking for 10 years.  As the founder of WORD- NZ’s largest nonprofit youth MTB organisation, Ash has been running after school programmes and holiday camps since 2013. She also the Director of Joyride which offers MTB skills courses and multi day camps around NZ.

Jamie Mead- Bike Park Representative
Based in Rotorua since 2014, Jamie has set up and managed the Skyline Rotorua Mountain Bike Gravity Park.  He is responsible for operations of the park including site manager for Crankworx Rotorua.  Jamie is also a guide, instructor and assessor for Outdoor Adventures (including rafting, tramping and mountain biking through Skills Active.

Kris Bartley- Assessment/Qualifications Rep
From a young age, Kris has had a passion for all things outdoors growing up at the edge of Riverhead forest.  For the past 10 years, he has been the Director of  Bigfoot Adventures which offers instruction, facilitation and management of adventure programmes designed for the education sector, as well as community groups, social clubs and individuals.
